David Joseph Harper, 85, from Lapeer passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 3, 2025. David was born on September 19, 1939, in Fairplay, Missouri, the son of LeRoy and Esther (Cole) Harper. David moved to Michigan with his family when he was a young boy. He worked for various automotive companies. On September 3, 1993, he married Donna Wilt in Lapeer.
David enjoyed playing the guitar, motorcycles, reading, telling stories about Daniel Boone. He was a great fan of John Wayne, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Sr. He loved eating watermelon, snicker candy bars and Lays potato chips, but most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.
David is survived by his wife, Donna, children, Tammy, Debbie and Tom, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, siblings, Bob Harper, Nancy Winslow, Beth Harper, Vincent Harper, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, David Jr, brother, LeRoy Harper, sister, Joann Gray.
The family will be present for visitation on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, 9:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral with funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Celebrant Sue Shoemaker will officiate. David will be laid to rest at West Deerfield Cemetery.
