David W. Fix, age 82, of Houghton Lake, MI, was called home on December 6, 2024. David was born on April 2, 1942, in Monroe, MI, to Woodrow and Mary (Keefe) Fix.
David attended Hall of Divine Child, Catholic Central, and earned a bachelor's degree in Agriculture and Business from Michigan State University. Growing up, he helped his family care for the expansive 1,000-acre St. Mary's farm, played basketball, and was an active member of 4H, winning many beef showmanship classes.
After college, David managed a farm in Valparaiso, IN, made significant contributions at Consolidated Paper, and went on to own his own demolition/dumpster company, J&D Rubbish. He loved spending time with friends and family, cherished moments with his brothers at the Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing euchre, and taking long car rides with his favorite gal.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Jan (Payne), and his brother, Richard Fix. He is survived by his partner, Julie Fischer; brothers, Robert (Alexandria) Fix and Kenneth (Melva) Fix; children, Christopher (Lynette) Fix, Timothy Fix, Deanna (Brian) Hartwell, and daughter-in-law Nancy Fix; as well as 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Celebration of life to be held at St. James Catholic Church of Houghton Lake on April 2, 2025 at 11am. A funeral Mass will be held on April 5, 2025 at St. Mary's Church of Monroe, MI and following the Mass, David will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe, MI.
