Clarabelle (Gates) Bowman

Clarabelle Bowman, age 93, of Fostoria passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Devonshire Retirement Village. Clarabelle was born on July 18, 1929 in Grand Blanc Township, the daughter of Raymond and Melissa (Mitchell) Gates. She grew up in the North Branch Area and was a 1947 graduate of North Branch High School. On June 19, 1954, she married Frank Bowman at the Pilgrim Holiness Church in North Branch.

Clarabelle worked at the North Branch Food Lockers in her younger days where she met her husband. She retired from the North Branch Area Schools as a librarian in the elementary school. She enjoyed gardening, her flower gardens, making crafts, cooking plus making wedding cakes. She loved her family with all her heart, they were her most valued treasures.

Clarabelle is survived by her children, Jane (Allen) Montero, Brian (Debbie) Bowman, Linda (Michael) Bloss, Diane Bowman, Kevin (Lisa) Bowman and David (Shelly) Bowman, her 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson, her sister, Thelma (Lin) Gravlin, her niece, Lisa (Joe) Swain and their daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank and her parents.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to North Branch Elementary School Library or North Branch Wesleyan Church.

The family will be present for visitation on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, 3:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home.  On Wednesday,February 22, 2023,  visitation will be 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at the North Branch Wesleyan Church with the  funeral service following at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Peter Damaska and Pastor Robert Lott will be officiating. Clarabelle will be laid to rest at Rich Township Cemetery in Mayville next to her husband.
