Chester "Chet" John Holcomb

Chester “Chet” John Holcomb, age 74, of North Branch passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021 at the United Hospice Services of Marlette. Chet was born in Waynesville, North Carolina on September 7, 1946, the son of Lyman and Clarabelle (Greene) Holcomb.

 He was a 1964 graduate of North Branch High School. On November 11, 1967,    he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jane Bartholomy at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in North Branch. Chet retired from GM after 33 years of service. He enjoyed camping with his family and was a jack of all trades at fixing anything that was broken.  He always had a smile on his face.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to United Hospice Service of Marlette Hospital or Juvenile Diabetes Association.

Chet is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; his children, Michael (Luann) Holcomb, Carolyn White,  Cheryl (Suraj) Lawal, Gary (Lindsey) Holcomb and Rodney  (Sara)  Holcomb; his grandchildren , Michael, Jonathon & Tyler Holcomb, Allysun & Aaliyah White, Rasheed, Jordan, Aminah and Kaidin Lawal, Rodney Holcomb II and Kash Holcomb; his great-granddaughter, Leila Lawal; his brothers, Ralph (Louise) Holcomb and Russell Holcomb; his sister, Wanda Morrish;  many nieces, nephews, close friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Sheila Cooke, Betty King, Donna VanPelt and Paula Holcomb.

The family will be present for visitation on Thursday, February 25, 2021, 11:00 A.M.-7:00 P.M. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church.  A funeral  service will follow at 7:00 P.M. with Deacon Peter Lynch officiating. Chet will be buried at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery at a later date.
