Brian Fredericksen Obituary

Brian William Fredericksen, born August 4, 1944, was the son of late Josephine and Fremont Fredericksen. He departed this earthly life early on Saturday December 10, 2022 at the age of 78.

He is survived by his four children: Richard Fredericksen of Urbana, Illinois (sons Alex Tomanovich and Scott Fredericksen), Kevin Fredericksen of Mayville, Michigan (partner, Pamela McDaniel), Christopher Fredericksen of Simi Valley, California (wife, Amanda Fredericksen, daughters, Aedyn Fredericksen, and Autumn Fredericksen), and Cynthia Fredericksen of Carpinteria, California (husband, Ian Singer, daughters, Teagan Singer, Oakley Singer, and Chloe Singer), sister, Lavonne Fredericksen of Clarkston, Michigan (children, Darin Farough, Jeffrey Farough, and Jennifer Gwilt), and his partner of many years, Karen Vanderkarr.

Preceding his death was his beloved son Thomas “Tommy” Fredericksen.

Brian was known as a hard worker. He is most remembered for his work in the asphalt business. After owning his own asphalt business for many years in Michigan he moved to Arizona where he began to drive big rigs across the United States. He had many stories to tell of the sites he saw and often treacherous travels of snowy, windy, mountain roads. Brian spent his retired years in Clifford, Michigan where he purchased a home on many acres where he could have, as he liked to say, “his toys.”

Brian was famous for his quick wit, sense of humor, and honesty. He could come up with a comical phrase at the drop of a hat in any situation. Underneath his hard working, tough exterior, Brian had a soft spot for his children and his animals.

One of Brian’s daily phrases was, “Well, I am still on this side of the grass!” While Brian has transitioned to the other side, he will be deeply missed.

A memorial service for Brian William Fredericksen will be held on a later date.
