My Life as I remember it….
I, Bonita “Bonnie” Hunt, of North Branch, Michigan, age 73, am now at home with my Lord and Savior as of Sunday, November, 28, 2021 at McLaren / Flint. I was born May 24, 1948 in Detroit, Mi. At the age of 2, I was adopted by my parents, Russell and Thelma Hunt, who loved me more than life itself.
I graduated from Pontiac Northern High School in 1966 and then attended Central Michigan University graduating in 1971 with a BA in Elementary Education. In September of 1971, I began my teaching career in North Branch and retired after 33 years in June 2004,
I enjoyed being of service to others in my community-President of North Branch Garden Club, North Branch Thrift Shop volunteer, Greenwood Cemetery Sec/Treas, worked with Hospice and visited the residents at the Pines of Lapeer on a regular basis. I also participated in the MOPS Program at Trinity United Methodist Church for several years. More importantly, I was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where I faithfully worshipped.
For the first 65 years of my life, I was an “only” child, but in March 2013, I was miraculously reunited with my 5 sisters and brother. For me, this reunion was truly a glorious gift from God and I have been so grateful for their unconditional love and acceptance.
For as wonderful as that family reunion was, the most defining moment of my entire life was March 30, 1975 when Jesus revealed himself to me and became my Lord and Savior. My life’s prayer since that time has been that all my family and friends would know that same assurance of God’s amazing grace and love.
I am survived by my 5 sisters, Carol (Jerry) Alter of Fort Myers Beach, FL, Mary (Dave) Phillips of Wixom, Bonnie (Jeff) Trumble of Lake City, Susan Taylor of Sandusky, Debbie (Robin) Kish of St. Claire Shores, and my brother, Michael Riccardi of Ferndale as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Also cousins from both my adopted and birth families abound.
I am also survived by my daughter “of the heart”-Jennifer Stevens and grandchildren “of the heart” Randi Stevens and Jamie and Larry Ford; niece and nephews “of the heart” Barbara McComsey, Brandon McComsey and Rich Austin; as well as lifetime friends, Dale and Carol Payne, dear cousins, Daryl and Carol Hunt and Daryl Jr and Kim Hunt, and spiritual mentors-Charla (Chuck) Pereau.
I was preceded in death by my parents, Russell and Thelma Hunt, as well as my birth mom, Betty Riccardi and brother, Billy Riccardi.
