Ruth Elaine (Trepto) Mabery

Ruth Elaine Mabery age 95 of North Branch, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Lapeer McLaren Region Hospital. Ruth was born on June 8, 1922 in North Branch Twp., the daughter of William and Ernestine (Lobstein) Trepto.  Ruth grew up in North Branch and graduated from  Lapeer High School.  On June 13, 1941 she married Archie Mabery in North Branch. 

Ruth worked very hard on the Mabery Centennial farms.  She ran the farm for over 40 years  with her husband, Archie  who passed away in 1975.  Ruth was a member of the North Branch United Methodist Church, past Worthy Matron for the North Branch Eastern Stars, a lifelong member of the Farm Bureau, and the Lapeer County 4-H.  Ruth enjoyed playing cards, bowling, casino trips, and traveling.  She was a big fan of the Detroit Tigers, and Ruth enjoyed facebook on her computer.  Ruth especially enjoyed her family time with her children and grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Asa) Thompson of Lapeer; sons, LeRoy (Hazel) Mabery of Lapeer and Robert (Karen) Mabery of Lapeer; sister-in-law, Dorothy Martus of Brown City; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Archie; 2 sons, Larry Sr. and Ronald; and brother, Melvin.

Memorials may be made to the North Branch United Methodist Church or the North Branch Area Schools.

The family will be present for visitation on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM and on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 3 to 8 PM at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. On Friday, July 7, 2017 Ruth will lie in state from 10 to 11 AM and the Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM at the North Branch United Methodist Church.  Ruth will be laid to rest next to her husband Archie at Westlawn Cemetery in North Branch.  Rev. Ronald Hutchinson will officiate.
