Mary (Fantin) Buono

Maria “Mary” Buono, age 92 of Silverwood passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at United Hospice Service of Marlette Regional Hospital.  Mary was born on November 29, 1925 in Vedelago, Italy, the daughter of Natale and Edivige (Miatello) Fantin.  After immigrating to America , Mary taught herself to read and write English.  She married James Buono on June 1, 1951 in Canada.  She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Mary’s family was very important to her.  Mary took great pride in caring for her family and she loved to feed everyone.  Mary loved her rose gardens.

She is survived by daughter, Rose Benedict of Kingston; sons, Richard (Marlene) of Clifford, and Ronald (Denise) of Arizona; grandchildren Erica, Joni, Joe, Melissa, Nick and Brent; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers; Giovanni, Carlo (Chris),  Ernesto (Pat), and Mario (Linda); sister-in-law, Carol Fantin; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmie; son, Glen; son-in-law, Mike Benedict; brothers; Bruno and wife, Dora, Danilo, and sister-in-law, Arleen. 

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the United Hospice Service of Marlette.

The family will be present for visitation on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 3 to 8 PM and a rosary at 4:00 PM all at Blackburn Martin Funeral Home and on Friday, April 6, 2018 at St. Mary’s Church from 11 AM to 12 PM.  The Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 PM at St. Mary’s Church.  Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband at The Imlay City Twp. Cemetery.
