Ila Laureen (Furse) Misener

Ila Laureen Misener, age 71 of North Branch passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 surrounded by her family at the Lapeer County Medical Care Facility.  Ila was born on March 31, 1946 in Royal Oak, the daughter of the late George William and Hannah Christine (Pederson) Furse.  Ila was their only child.  She attended North Branch Schools, where she graduated in 1964, and she was the top ten of her class.  Ila graduated from beauty school during the same time she graduated from High School.  After graduation she worked for Eldon’s Beauty Shop in Lapeer doing hair until 1973.  While Ila was growing up she enjoyed riding her horse and spending time with her friends. 

On July 6, 1968, she married Merle J. Misener and gave birth to two beautiful daughters, Angelia and Melissa.  Ila also has three incredible grandchildren, Brittany, Connor, and Cooper, whom she loved dearly.  Ila enjoyed bowling, softball, and getting together with friends to play cards. Ila also enjoyed working as an EMT Specialist on the North Branch Area Ambulance Service.  She worked as a medical biller and receptionist for many years, and she retired from McLaren Lapeer Region.  After retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. 

Ila left behind her two daughters, Angelia Misener and Melissa (husband, Robert) Lewandowski; and also her 3 grandchildren, Brittany McDonnell, Connor and Cooper Lewandowski; and many family members and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle; in-laws, Frank and Alice Misener; brother-in-law, Mark Freeman; uncles, Roger Hebner and Dick Birkenmeijer, along with one of her dearest friends, Candy Coulter.

Memorials may be directed to Hometown Hospice or the Lapeer County Medical Care Facility.

The family will be present for visitation on Wednesday, May 3rd  from 6 to 8 pm, on Thursday, May 4th from 12 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm, Friday, May 5th   from 11 am  to 12:00 PM. The Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 PM at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home.  Pastor Josh Hilty  will officiate. Ila will be laid to rest next to her husband, Merle in Rich Twp. Cemetery.
