Helen May Worgess, 93, a lifelong resident of North Branch passed away February 14, 2018 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility. Helen was born November 9, 1924 in North Branch Twp, the daughter of Cyrus Earl and Hazel Loisa (Butterfield) Barrett. Helen graduated from North Branch High School in 1943. She married Lewis Worgess on October 21, 1945 in North Branch. Helen retired from Oakdale Hospital after many years of service. She was a member of North Branch Wesleyan Church. Helen loved knitting, crocheting, making quilts, bowling, and going to the Senior Citizens in Imlay City to socialize with her friends. Helen also loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren and going to the family birthday parties.
Helen is survived by her son, Joe (Nancy) Worgess of Mt. Pleasant, daughters, Colette (David) Jones of Columbiaville, Janele Thompson of North Branch, Bethany (Bill) Koenig of California, and Renee Worgess of Columbiaville, sister-in-law, Dorothy Barrett of North Branch; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis; and siblings.
The family will be present for visitation on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 4 to 8 PM at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. On Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 2 to 3 PM with the Funeral Service to follow at 3:00 PM at the North Branch Wesleyan Church. Pastor Peter Damaska will officiate. Helen will be laid to rest next to her husband at Lum Cemetery of Arcadia Twp.
