Fredric Vernon Griswold

Fredric “Fred” Vernon Griswold, age 67, of North Branch passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at home.   Fred was born April 26, 1949.  He is the son of the late Vernon and Martha (Zuhlke) Griswold.  Fred grew up in North Branch and is a 1967 graduate of North Branch High School.  After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy, and served proudly aboard the USS Brooke DEG 1 during the Viet Nam War and was honorably discharged in 1973.  Fred started working for General Motors in 1973, and after 31 years he retired from GM Plant Flint Engine South in 2004.

Fred enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his three grandchildren.  He loved spending time watching westerns, and traveling with his wife, Barb.

Fred is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara (Morse) Griswold; son, Christopher (Ann) Griswold of North Branch; and daughter, Melissa (Chad) Titzer of Noblesville, IN; three grandchildren, Noah Titzer, Hannah Griswold, and Hayden Griswold; two sisters, Verna (David) Shoultz, Dorene Scott; and two brothers, Michael Griswold and Larry Griswold; many nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Anne Grossbauer; brother-in-law, Richard Scott; in-laws, Clyde and Helen Morse.

The family will be present for visitation on  Monday, April 24, 2017 from 4 to 8 PM, and on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 10 to 11 AM at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home.  The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Blackburn Chapel.  Rev. Roger Gedcke will officiate.  Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, North Branch.
