David Lee Howland Sr. passed away on July 7, 2017 at the age of 69. David was united in marriage to his lovely wife, Bonita Johnson on July 2, 1970 in Lovington, New Mexico.

David was a retired Master Sergeant for the United States Air Force.  In his time serving his country, he served two tours in Vietnam as well as receiving the Airman of the Year Award his first year in the AF, three Commendation Medals and the Meritorious Service Medal.  David went on in his career as an F-15 representative in Integrated Avionics Specialty for 27 years at Boeing Aerospace, St Louis, MO.  David was a Master Integrated Avionics Instructor.  He taught pilots and maintainers as well as he  was the expert on F-15 fighter jets.  David was a member of the American Legion in Elsberry, MO.  David enjoyed woodworking, especially making furniture.  He loved working with his hands. 

David was the beloved husband of Bonita Howland of Foley, Missouri. 2 sons, David (Theresa) Howland Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas and William Howland of Foley, MO; 2 daughters, Kathy (Eddy) Salinas of San Antonio, Texas and Rebecca (Michael) Gentrup of Shackopee, MN; 3 brothers, Robert (Iris) Howland, Chris (Sherri) Howland and Pat Howland all of North Branch, MI; sister, Bonita Ramirez of Lapeer, MI; 3 granddaughters, Ashley Hunter Howland, Loren Howland, and Sarah Gentrup; 2 grandsons, Steven Gentrup,  and Collin Gentrup.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Howland; mother, Gladys Murray; and brother, Mike Howland. 

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

There will be a gathering on Friday, July 21st from 10 am-11am with a Memorial Service at 11 am at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home.  Deacon Joe Schierlinger will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted by the North Branch American Legion Post #457.
