Beatrice (Beard) Kovalchick

Beatrice “Bea” Kovalchick, age 90, of North Branch passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Angelic Gardens in Lum, MI. Bea was born December 27, 1926 in Flint, MI; the daughter of Robert and Alice (Kress) Beard. She grew up in the Flint area and attended Beecher schools. On November 6, 1948, she married John Kovalchick in Flint, MI. Bea attended First Baptist Church in North Branch. Bea enjoyed volunteering at the North Branch Thrift Shop when she was well. She loved cooking and baking, but most of all spending time with her family.

Beatrice is survived by: daughter, Linda (Ronald) Loomis of North Branch; son, Gordon Kovalchick of North Branch; sisters, Berda Peppler of Clio and Janet Starkey of Kansas; grandchildren, Krista (Dan) Soloman of Davison, Alicia (Ron) Eaton of North Branch, Jon Kovalchick of North Branch and Greg Kovalchick of North Branch; great-grandchildren, Raeanna, Kylie and Sawyer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bea was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, brother Rob, sisters Mildred, Mary, Gladys and Margie.

Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or Old Newsboys of Flint.

Family will be present for visitation on Thursday, June 1st from 10 am -12 pm, with the Funeral Service at 12 pm at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. Niece and nephew Pat and Jack Battin will be officiating. Bea will be laid to rest next to her husband, John in Westlawn Cemetery in North Branch.
