Ruth Ann (Nan) Nellenbach at the age of 76 of North Branch, MI died Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Henry Ford Hospital with her family at her side.  Nan was born on November 1, 1940, the daughter of Michael John and Mary Barbara (Robinet) Weingartz.  She grew up in North Branch, MI and graduated from North Branch High School.  On August 8, 1964  Nan married John Nellenbach in North Branch, MI.

 

Nan devoted her life to raising and nurturing her family, she was especially devoted to her husband, John, of 52 years.  Nan was a volunteer puppy raiser for Leader Dogs for the Blind.  She dedicated over 40 years to helping people with sight impairments by providing them with mobility through Leader Dogs.  Nan took great pride in helping others care for their own pets by working in the veterinary clinics in North Branch.  Gardening, sewing and cooking were fulfilling hobbies.  However, her passion in life was taking care of her family including 12 grandchildren.

 

Nan was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and passed on her devotion of her faith to the members of her family.

 

 Nan is survived by: husband, John Nellenbach; daughters, Melissa (Pete) Doubek of Alpena, MI, Janel (Jeff) Caverly of Essexville, MI, Erica (Dr. William) Aragones; sons, Thomas (Christine) Nellenbach of Troy, MI, and Patrick (Elizabeth) Nellenbach of Frankenmuth, MI; 12 grandchildren, Andrew and Alexander Doubek, Lindsey and Nathan Caverly, Lauren, Casey,Jesse, and Benjamin Aragones, Kate, Caroline, Matthew and Jack Nellenbach; sister, Lucille Speicher (Okemos, MI), many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 She was preceded in death by;  Mary Weingartz (mother), Michael Weingartz (father), Eugene Weingartz (brother), Joseph Weingartz (brother), Bernard Weingartz (brother), George Weingartz (brother), Evangeline Doneth (sister) and Doris Nellenbach (sister).

Family will be present for visitation on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home.  There will be a Rosary at 7:00 pm by the North Branch Knights of Columbus.  On Monday, February 27, 2017 Nan will lie in state at St. Mary’s Church, North Branch, MI. from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with the Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM.  Nan will be buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery, with Father Mark Prill and Father David Speicher officiating.
