Laura Lena (Ewing) Wright

Laura Wright, age 61 of Silverwood passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at her home.  Laura was born February 1, 1956 in Saginaw, MI, the daughter of the late Franklin William and Audrey Patricia (Cole) Ewing.  Laura grew up in Vassar and graduated from Vassar High School in 1974.  Laura attended Delta College after High School.

Laura was a foster parent for over 18 years later she was employed as a  supervisor for Hilldale Tool for 10 years.  Laura was a member of the Community of Christ in Juanita.  Laura volunteered her time for the Mayville Ambulance Service.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching Fox News and cooking shows, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. 

Laura is survived by her husband, James; daughters, Alycia (Matthew) Hyde of Flint and step-daughter, Becky Dalton of Millington; sons, Dennis (Carrie) Smeaton of Clio, Joe Smeaton of Clio, step-sons, James (Mary Ellen) Wright of Silverwood, and Jason Wright of Clifford; sisters, Patty Legue of Evart, Connie (Chuck) Allen of Six Lakes, Carol (Mark) Szelogowski of Bay City, and Mavis Shearing of West Virginia; brother, William Ewing of Vassar; 16 grandchildren and Daniel Rosin, Kaela Horne, Arria Smeaton, Devon Hyde, Grant Hyde, Jordan Edmondson, and Nick Wright held a special place in her heart, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Grant Gronda-Smeaton; and sister-in-law, Sally Ewing.

Memorials may be made to the family.

There will be a Memorial Service Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 4:00 PM, with a gathering from 3 to 4 PM at Laura’s home 4600 Mayville Road, Silverwood, MI.  48760.  Pastor Steven Henry will officiate.
