Elmer Louis Miller

Elmer L Miller, age 81, lifelong resident of North Branch passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital with his family at his side.

Elmer was born August 25, 1936 in North Branch Twp, the son of William Frederick and Mildred Eva (Winegar) Miller.  Elmer attended North Branch Schools and continued his education at Mott Community College in Flint, MI.  On January 24, 1959 he married Janet Harrison in Lapeer, MI. 

Elmer served his country in the United States Army and the Army Reserves.  Elmer started his career working at Chaso-Royco in North Branch and then he worked at AC Delco in Flint, MI as a tool grinder.  He retired from General Motors in 1996.  Elmer enjoyed piloting his own small aircraft, riding motorcycles, camping, and spending time with his family.  Elmer and Janet loved to travel the United States extensively, including going to Alaska three times.  They flew to Alaska one time in their airplane. 

Elmer is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Kenneth (Linda) of Metamora, and Gary (Cindy) of Lake Linden; daughter, Sheri (Joseph) Hugan of Highland; grandchildren, Benjamin, Emily (Jonathan), Michael (Kimberly), Katie, Eli, Jason, and Ryan; sisters, Ruth Hohman and Evelyn Watson; many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Bill. 

Memorials may be directed to the family, they will donate to his church in his name. 

The family will be present for visitation on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 1 to 8 PM, and Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 10 to 11 AM.  The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home.  Elmer will be buried next to his brother, Bill in Greenwood Cemetery, North Branch.  Elder Greg Varner will officiate.
