Doris R. (Meachum) Brace

Doris R. Brace, age 81, of North Branch passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Angelic Gardens with her family at her side.  Doris was born on July 7, 1935 in Clarksville, Arkansas.  She was the daughter of John and Minnie Mae (Sykes) Meachum.  Doris grew up in the Detroit area and graduated from McKenzie High School in 1953.  On August 8, 1953 she married Walter Brace Jr. in Detroit, Michigan.  Doris retired after many years of working for the North Branch IGA as their manager. Doris was a member of the North Branch Methodist Church.  She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, spending time with her grandsons, family and her dog Daisy.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl; son, David (Arleen) Brace both of North Branch; grandsons, David Andrew of North Branch and Daniel of Norman, Oklahoma; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt; parents; sister, Sharon; and her precious dog, Daisy.

On Saturday, February 25, 2017 there will be a gathering from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home.  The Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 PM at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home.  Rev. Ron Hutchinson will officiate. Doris will be laid to rest next to her husband, Walt in Westlawn Cemetery, North Branch.
